Police: 4 kids injured in west Phoenix car accident, driver arrested on unrelated charges

Arlexis Gloria was behind the wheel when a car crashed into a pole near 28th Ave/Buckeye Rd. He was arrested for having pot inside his car, however, officials do not suspect that he was impaired.

Four kids suffered injuries during the crash; two kids’ were serious. Police say none of the children were wearing seat belts.

Police say a total of six people were injured during the incident. Four kids suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

PHOENIX – A man is in custody, and four kids are recovering from various injuries after a crash in west Phoenix.

Officers received 911 reports about the accident Friday night after it happened near 28th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

According to a Phoenix police spokesperson, two adults and four kids were in a car driving eastbound on Buckeye Road. The driver lost control of the car and collided with a pole near 28th Avenue.

It was initially believed that a 10-year-old child suffered life-threatening injuries, but she is now expected to be OK. A 5-year-old was also hospitalized with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Two other kids, ages 5 and 6, suffered minor cuts and bruises during the incident, police said.

The car was only equipped with two seat belts in the backseat and there were no booster seats for the younger kids, officials said.

The driver, 28-year-old Arlexis Gloria, was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and an outstanding warrant.
