Storefront Humber provides extensive programs to help seniors and adults with disabilities remain independent in their own home and in the community.

Adult Day Program
The goal of the Adult Day Program is to decrease isolation and loneliness through encouraging social interaction and active participation. The program includes meals, personal care, counseling and minor health care. There is a small fee for services. the centre is open Monday to Saturdays from 9:30am to 2:30pm.
Client Intervention Service
We respond to referrals from police, public health, concerned neighbours and families regarding risk situations arising in the community involving seniors and adults with disabilities. (Reports and referrals are made to the appropriate parties.)
This program provides an opportunity for members in the community to meet for a nutritious meal, socialize, and enjoy educational material. There are five lunch and two breakfast programs. There is a small fee for the meal.
Elderly Persons Centre
Our Elderly Persons Centre Program promotes a healthy lifestyle for the members in our community.
Volunteers needed for our Elderly Persons Program .
The Foot Care Program provides routine nail care for our clients by a registered foot care nurse. The program runs every Wednesdays from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. The fee for the service is $9.00. Please call 416-259-4207 to book an appointment.
This volunteer based program provides support and companionship for seniors in their own home. Language matches are made whenever possible.
Grass Cutting and Snow Removal
This brokerage program links seniors with students and with mature adults who provide grass cutting and snow shoveling services. Students – Client to provide equipment
Mature Adults – They bring their own equipment – $20/hr.
Home At Last Program
Home At Last Program (HAL) helps seniors leaving hospitals to arrive home safely and comfortably. Eligible criteria is 55 years or older, who have no support at home, Emergency Department and inpatient units only. There is no cost for the service.
A personal support worker is available to assist clients with meal preparation, housework, personal banking, and shopping. We also provide escort services to medical appointments.
Home Maintenance Service
A handy person is available to assist with home maintenance work. Available services include painting walls/cabinets, washing walls/cabinets, installation of air conditioners/smoke alarms, carpet cleaning, and other small repairs.
Home Making Service
A Personal Support Worker is available to assist seniors with personal care in their own home. They can provide assistance with bathing, personal hygiene and exercises. As well as escort services to medical appointments.
Information and Referral Service
Storefront Humber can provide assistance with information and referral if you are unsure of where to call about available services for seniors. We will gladly connect you with the proper resources.
This service provides a reliable and trained individual to care for a loved one who cannot be left alone. Staff provide in home relief support that includes individualized personal care, stimulation, and activation.
Supportive Housing sites are available for clients with complex health and social needs. Our workers assist clients with personal care, meal preparation, light homemaking and shopping. Each site is monitored by Lifeline, a 24-hour emergency response service. Currently we provide programs in four Toronto Supportive Housing buildings. Click here to see building information .
Storefront Humber Inc provides transportation service within the South Etobicoke area. We provide rides to the shopping centre, as well as medical rides to your doctor’s appointment. We also offer transportation to our foot clinic, congregate dining and lunch program.
Storefront Humber Inc. is a member of Toronto Ride. Launched in 1998, Toronto Ride is a collaborative partnership of fourteen not-for-profit, community support service agencies that provides door-to-door, assisted transportation to seniors 55+ and adults with disabilities who are not eligible for Wheel-Trans. Its transportation services help clients live independently by offering equitable access to health care, Adult Day Programs, and appointments and activities in the Toronto-area.

Who We Are
Storefront Humber Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization located in South Etobicoke. We developed out of the growing concern for residents living in the area who were without adequate support to remain independent in their own home. The agency started as a result of caring Humber College students and volunteers and has now flourished to a thriving agency of over 130 employees, providing services to over 2,000 clients.

Storefront Humber Inc. has provided services now for 40 years in our community. During the past year the board of directors and staff worked on future development and direction of services and programs needed to support independent living and dignity in the community. Once again, Storefront Humber has gone through the Accreditation process with Accreditation Canada based in Ottawa. This recognition means that we meet national standards of quality for health services. We continue to advocate for additional funds as the growth in senior population increases the need for additional funding for extra services is required.

Our agency also receives donations and gifts-in-kind from the business sector, community organizations, and clients. These donations graciously help to enhance our services.
